This is a weekly local events newsletter focusing on Columbus, GA, the second largest city in Georgia. Columbus is the perfect city for a local newsletter as there are several large, publicly traded companies based here, plus a massive military base (Fort Benning) and a University with an enrollment of 8,000 students. All of these ensure there's a constant flow of new people and families in the city, which also means lots of local events, big and small.

Strengths

Columbus is the perfect sized city for a newsletter like this. There are always events to write about, and yet there isn't a ton of competition for similar offerings. Feedback and readership has been fantastic since the beginning, but my day job has changed and I no longer have time to work on this due to travel. The newsletter is very easy to write and can be done in as little as 1 hour a week thanks to Facebook event calendars and a few other sites.

Opportunities

When I last did outreach for sponsorships, ads were sold out for nearly 3 months consecutively. Local businesses have been supportive and willing to sponsor the newsletter. Adding a second ad to each newsletter or publishing twice weekly rather than once could immediately increase the income significantly, I simply did not have the time to do so. I've only been spending 1-2 hours per week on this and am confident that somebody with more time could very quickly grow the accompanying social media accounts or find new things to highlight in the newsletter.
